OUR CALLING: Is to know Christ, and to make him known. May all our loved ones see Christ in and through us. |

I Miss Gerene!
I look over to where she sat, and she's not there. I listen for her voice when we all sing, and its not there. I miss her hug and kiss on the cheek when Passing the Peace-- she always told me she loved me.
I miss her smiling face in the Fellowship Hall, when she put out her ʻgoodiesʼ. She was always eager to share her recipes for those goodies.
Gerene was a caring and loving person. I'll miss the cards she always sent out to us. As I leave the church, I look up toward the heavens and know that Gerene is smiling down at all of us, just like she told me she would when we spoke about her death. Our Redeemer has lost a special person!

Greeting Cards For Prison Pen Pals ORLC Members are visiting and corresponding with three prison inmates. This is a very rewarding Ministry and Stewardship of Time! These inmates have considerable difficulty in getting greeting cards for family, spouses & friends. You could help by supplying a variety of greeting cards for all occasions. Inmates may receive up to 10 cards and envelopes at one time. Please consider putting together a mailing of 10 cards/envelopes for mailing to an inmate. It would be nice if you sent them yourself, but I/We can get them sent if you prefer. Frank Sedmera |

From the LWML Dorcas Guild
Each year we choose a local organization to sponsor and celebrate that organization by having a representative come to our Epiphany Party in January. This year we chose the Christian Service Center. Shirley McManus, Director of CSC, was our guest speaker. She was extremely informative .. recounting all their successes and elaborating on their continual needs. We sent her away with bags of much needs food/personal hygiene items that filled the back of her SUV.
Yes I realize that’s old news at this point, but it “sets the stage” for our next project. One for which we need your help … and it won’t cost you anything.
Shirley mentioned they always need containers to send already prepared food items home to those in need. They don’t get the containers back, so it is another continual need for the Center.
So, as a continuation of supporting the CSC, we are going to initiate a “Plastic Container Drive” during March and April. A box will be placed in the church narthex to receive cleaned Cool Whip, margarine, cottage cheese, butter, etc containers … don’t forget the lids, as they are equally as important as the containers themselves.
Let’s see if we can fill the back of my SUV with containers to help out the CSC. The ladies of the Guild thank you in advance for your support.

I would like to continue listing more of the ways in which members and friends are stepping up with time and money in service to God. I am asking each of you to bring good examples of this stewardship to my attention. I am convinced that I am just skimming off the cream that I can see. Lutheran Hour Ministry is asking ORLC to promote a benefit golf tournament. This will be near The Villages community on April 2, 2011 Players will be treated to getting to know many other Lutherans who are also avid golfers . Individual entries are $100, including golfing, lunch, buffet dinner and goodie bags. Want to be a corporate sponsor or individual hole sponsor? Prizes include $50,000 for a hole in one. and many other really nice golf and electronic apparatus. I hope to post flyers and bulletin PR about the tournament. Meanwhile, see me for more details. Our choir is down quite a bit in attendance and participation. Even one lost voice reduces our volume and our quality. We are missing several. All sex, all height, all pitch, all experience, welcome. It appears that many are stepping up with fat food for our after-church Fellowship time. Thanks for each of you. Clean up after could use a few more hands. Lifelight is going good at the Hizers. Monday morn Bible Study seems in good shape, Men's breakfast is down a bit but still good. Looks like the usher corps might stand some reinforcement. Our Youth group does need more help with activities and programs. Our beaver member continues working on our presentation live oak, along SR 47, and the many piles of fallen limbs and leaves. So far we have had adequate help with Friday fish frys but we never know who will/will not show up. We do need help earlier in the day for getting fish thawed out and other preparations. If you could come after work there are plenty of utensils to be cleaned and signs to be stowed away. Our Festival is coming up. Watch for opportunities to help us make this even better this year.

Sunday School And Youth Group:
We would love to have more people in Sunday School than we have room for! Sunday School is such an enriching time. While we get the message from the sermon in church, we get a discussion from Sunday school. It’s a time for learning and sharing and empowering ourselves with the word of God. We hope that you will give Sunday School a chance and see if you get something out of it. Come out and see what the excitement is all about!! Pastor’s Honor Roll
Students receive a prize for every ten versus memorized. See Sunday School teachers to recite them.
